News for the New Year

2016-10-27 00.01.10 (1)On February 16th a youth-led, all day, all school Wellness Summit is taking place. 40 facilitators of 34 workshops will be sharing personal stories of how they overcame challenges, addressing difficult subjects, inviting discussion, offering suggestions and showing how through conversation and connection we can each of us find our own capacity for wellness. Through the generosity of Coast Capital, Country Grocer on Salt Spring, the District Parent Advisory Committee, the Local Action Team and the GISS PAC, we will be able to cover travel/accommodation costs of those who are coming from off island, offer a lunch for everyone in attendance and an honorarium for those who are not facilitating a workshop as part of their work. We appreciate enormously the support of the Salt Spring Community Services, VIHA and all who are making this big event possible!

Volunteer Fair at the Public Library

IMG_9071Connecting Generations was invited to have a booth at the Volunteer Fair at the public library on October 14th. 3 volunteers signed up and representatives of other organizations inquired about possible collaborations.

The wet stormy weather was no hindrance to the enthusiasm of those in attendance!

Fall Fun…

Welcome back…and here we are nearly at the beginning of October!

anthology coverIt seems as though Connecting Generations inspires more interest every year. A Fall update with more news will follow shortly.

Here in the meantime announcements for our TWO writers’ groups that begin next week: The Written and Spoken Word will encourage those who would like to prepare for Open Mic poetry events. In the Stories workshops we will create stories using words and images. Both workshops are supported by the Salt Spring Arts Council and begin together on Thursday October 6th, each continuing separately on alternate Thursdays after that.
