An article about Connecting Generations as it relates to the Circle of Courage model of Positive Youth Development was accepted for publication in the Reclaiming Youth International Journal. However, the journal is being discontinued so here it is:
The GISS intergenerational Writers’ Group started a new project, Strong On The Inside this week, funded by the B.C. Arts Council, the Salt Spring Arts Council and SD 64 and with art materials provided by Opus Supplies in Victoria and refreshments offered by Country Grocer. 9 youth and 4 adults attended our first meeting.
Annie Smith, E.D. of the McCreary Centre Society visited Salt Spring in May to discuss the results of the most recent Adolescent Health Survey of youth in School District 64. As a member of the newly-formed Health and Wellness Committee for SD 64, Connecting Generations offers a way for youth to build on their resilience through intergenerational conversations.
